It all starts with the Grapes and the land they are grown on.
Copper Mountain Vineyards is surrounded by magnificent mountains and lake views. 1500 ft.-thick glacial soils make excellent wine country. Our vineyards were first planted in 1996, but we have been growing many fruits on property since 1991, and have been farming since 1973.
We mixed our love of the land and its fruits with the knowledge we gained about wines from selling them in local, Oroville restaurant "The Peerless" from 1976 to 1980, to begin our own winery. We found a great piece of land, put in a few varieties of grapes, and began casking our first wine (Copper Mountain Syrah) in 2004. We now grow 10 varieties!
In these more northern climes, people do not always think about growing grapes, but we have similar high degree days as they do in central CA. What's more, our cooler nights mixed with warm days help to create & bring forth unique flavors, as natural sugar productions are enhanced.
We hope you can try some Copper Mountain Wines for yourself soon!
